Jeremy Magers
Founder, In The Dirt Baseball Club
July 29th, 1976 – January 11th, 2023
ABOUT JEREMY
Jeremy was the founder of In The Dirt Baseball Club. He dedicated a significant portion of his life to not only the game, but the development of generations of athletes in the sport. He was never about himself, but always the players he worked with, the community he serves, and others around him.
Jeremy’s baseball career was extensive, from working with the youngest players to the highest levels of the game. He worked in or around baseball for over forty years. He was initially a player in Little League. From there he was a part of Legion Ball, Clark Griffin College baseball, AAABA, and the Blue Ridge Mountain League. He received numerous accolades during his career, including All IAC, All County, All Potomac, All Rockville, and College MVD Player of the Year for ACC. He signed with the Texas Rangers in 1997 and attended Spring Training.
Jeremy worked as a professional baseball instructor for J.R. Perdue of the Chicago White Sox and Leo Mazzoni of the Atlanta Braves.
We lost Jeremy far too early, but hope his memory and commitment to developing the next generation of baseball and softball players continues. He was a true leader and avid supporter of children of all ages, and took pride in watching them grow up playing ball.
His fiancée, Sarah Hofman, started a Memorial Fund in his memory that will provide grants for baseball and softball organizations in Frederick County. Jeremy’s legacy and impact will create lasting opportunities for children to thrive in the sport he loved. If you’re interested in donating to his Memorial Fund, please see below.
